Good evening! Yeah! We are headed into the weekend! I hope you make some time for some self-care. Get a mani- and pedicure. Read some pages in the book that you have been putting off for months. Whatever puts you in a calm and peaceful place......DO IT! But before you head off to have fun, I wanted to leave you with a random thought.
We often miss out on great relationships because we let socialized prejudices and stereotypes that are frequently exaggerated and bear little merit prevent us from considering the possibility of forming great friendships with a diverse group of people. The negative perceptions come from prior generations, friends, and social media platforms. It is these perceptions that prevent us from embracing the beauty in our cultural differences. Imagine a world in which those barriers do not exist.
I had the privilege of traveling to Southeast Asia in February 2025. I visited the Motag Living Museum (Information about Motag Living Museum | Guide to the Philippines) where the people were so loving and excited to share information about their culture and community. It was one of the best experiences during my travels. I was not discriminated against, I was not spoken to negatively, and they did not make me feel unwelcomed. My interactions with them were the complete opposite. Whether in Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, or Taiwan, Asians are beautiful, kind, and intelligent and they will welcome you despite your origin, culture, or ethnicity. When we dispel the negative perceptions that people socialize and find the confidence to befriend those who may be different from us, you will thank me later!
